Auto-Mag® Dry Blood Spot DNA Isolation Kit

Overview

Auto-Mag® Dried Blood Spot DNA Isolation Kit is specially designed for purifying DNA from dried blood spots samples.

  • Fast and easy processing using a magnetic bead system
  • Quick recovery of high-quality DNA fragments from anticoagulated and untreated blood
  • Complete removal of contaminants and inhibitors, free from RNA contamination
  • Eluted DNA is well suitable for use in DNA ligation, sequencing, labeling, PCR, etc
  • Adaptable to various automated workstations

The kit uses the special lysis condition with Auto-Mag® magnetic particles technology to isolate the high-quality genomic DNA.  The purified genomic DNA is fully digestible with all restriction enzymes tested, and is completely compatible with downstream applications including Southern Blot analysis, PCR, NGS etc. The blood should be spotted and dried on suitable filter paper or specimen collection cards. Typical yields of genomic DNA will vary depending on the cell density of the blood sample.

Application

Blood and tissue gDNA extraction for:

  • PCR, Real-time PCR
  • Southern Blotting
  • Cloning, Genotyping
  • Sequencing

Manual Workflow for Dried Blood Spot DNA isolation

  1. Cut 3-6 pieces from a dried blood spot and place them in a Nuclease-free 1.5-2.0ml tube
  2. Add Proteinase K & lysis buffer to lysis the cells.
  3. Add Beads to bind DNA
  4. Separate beads from contaminants.
  5. Wash magnetic beads to remove contaminants.
  6. Elute DNA from magnetic beads.
