Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select reagent is specifically designed to recover and purify small DNA fragments as small as 15 bp from sheared DNA, PCR or RT-PCR reactions, and enzyme digestion products. A key feature of this reagent is its ability to selectively recover DNA fragments of a specific size or size range (15 bp–300 bp) by adjusting the volume ratio of Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select to the DNA sample, similar to double-sided size selection protocols. The purified small DNA fragments are suitable for various applications, including PCR, fragment analysis, fluorescent or radioactive sequencing, capillary electrophoresis, DNA labeling, and ligation.
Additionally, Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select is an RNase-free reagent, making it ideal for miRNA enrichment and RNA size selection from total RNA, broadening its applicability in RNA-based workflows.
Using advanced magnetic bead technology, Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select is compatible with both manual procedures and automated liquid-handling workstations, offering versatility and efficiency for diverse laboratory needs.

Small size DNA Fragments or RNA cleanup & size selection Workflow
- Confirm the DND/RNA sample volume.
- Add appropriate volume of Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select to remove larger DNA/RNA fragments.
- Separate the beads and transfer supernatant to a new vessels.
- Add new Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select to the supernatant to recover desired size DNA/RNA.
- Separate the beads from contaminants.
- Wash magnetic beads with 85% ethanol to remove contaminants.
- Elute size-selective DNA or RNA from magnetic beads.

A series of different volume ratios of Auto-Mag® Micro Size Select reagent to sample were used to selectively recover small DNA fragments of different size ranges.
